WATER:All City water storage tanks are at normal levels and therefore all businesses and residents should have normal pressure and volume from their water supply.
ELECTRIC:At 6:15 pm on February 3, 2010, approximately 80% of Duncan Power customers had been restored to full electrical service. We have plans to have restoration of service to 100% of our customers no later than Friday, February 5, 2010.At the present time, there are isolated pockets throughout the community still without power and we continue with contract tree trimmers being employed to clear the lines. Duncan Power linemen and linemen from other communities are following behind the tree trimmers to restore service. We have crews assigned to replace individual services that have been pulled loose from homes and this is being done as they are reported repaired by a licensed electrician. However, at 6:15 pm on February 3, we had approximately 50 on the list to be done and more being added at the same time we were addressing those already on the list. All of the crews are working 12 hour shifts and will continue to do so until full power is restored to the entire community.
As a precautionary notice, we are operating on a temporary power source into the community, and at some point in time, when AEP/PSO is able to rebuild their transmission lines between Marlow and Chickasha, we will be switching back to the normal transmission circuit. When this switch occurs, all power will probably be required to be disconnected in order to allow a safe transfer. The outage will only be for a very short period of time.At this time, it is unknown when this switching may occur as this is a situation controlled by AEP/PSO.
The City of Duncan has recently begun a comprehensive planning process as directed by the Duncan City Council. The City has appointed a committee to oversee the process.
